Back on the beach
Entry 56 of 87 | show all | print this entry |
Went to El Zonte with Ricardo, a surfer friend of Karla's. I bought a nice little 5'9" fish and tried it out at El Sunzal. My poor ribs felt the five months I'd spent out of the water, but it was fun anyway.
The locals tried to be scary with me: "Welcome to hell," they snarled when I met them. But they were cool after a couple of beers, and thought my Spanish/Basque accent was hilarious from which I gained the nickname "El ostia tio."
The coolest thing about the Salvadoran coast are the buses. They all try to outdo each other with the decor, inside and out, and the music is funky reggaeton or hiphop. People were actually dancing on one of the rides I took.
