Wake up (or at least shake myself out of the half doze) after a long ride on the overnight bus from San Cristobal to find myself arriving and my connecting bus leaving. I leap in a combi and shout follow "FOLLOW THAT BUS!" like in the movies. The combi kindly obliges, but trundles leisurely down the road behind it, stopping off to pick up other passengers and buy coconuts, while I fidget nervously in the back seat, breathing down the driver´s neck.
We eventually catch up with the bus on the Guatemalan border. I rush my passport/visa paperwork while the other passsengers huff and puff impatiently because I´m holding them up.
Then we leave....
