Paracho is home to MexicoŽs finest lauderos (stringed-instrument makers). They are everywhere in town, with their little workshops and showrooms.
So what could I do but buy a new axe? Mr Amezcua, fourth in a family line of guitar-makers, had made a beautiful classical guitar with a shell-pattern inlaid on the front and a body made of palo escrito (whatever wood that is). He stuck a pick up in it for me and gave me a case and sold it for a third of what youŽd pay back home.

So IŽm happy. It sounds beautiful.
