Beachbum at Rabbit Point

This place is paradise on Earth, but don´t tell anyone.
This is a long beach, with a rocky reef at one end and fishermen´s camp on the headland overlooking the sea. I came down here with Frank and Deb, a Canadian couple who I met in San Juanico. Great people, very accommodating: I camped with them in the sand dunes by the beach for nearly two weeks.
For those of you who surf, the beach has lefts and rights. The right can hold a lot of size, and did on one Big Wednesday, when I snapped my board. The star of the show is the reef, with its FAST lefts. There is space for everybody....
If you come here, you need to bring food, water and camping stuff. You also need to bring a good attitude. I met the friendliest group of people at this spot, and ended up spending Christmas with them. Most of the crowd are from the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington State, Northern California. Funnily enough there was a real shortage of Southern Californians, which is unusual for this part of the world, but I´m not complaining.
The general routine was wake up, surf, coffee, breakfast, surf, fish, sunbathe, surf, explore the desert, hang out, barbecue, read, write, play my new mini Mexiguitar, etc. Some evenings we might buy fish, lobster or oysters from the fishermen and cook them up and wash them down with rum and lime.
My feet are shredded to pieces by the barnacles on the reef, but they´re testament to the fun I´ve been having.
