Three weeks in this town! I was only coming for a couple of days but it's one of those places that won't let you leave.

Bahia de los Angeles is beautiful. I thought I'd come and sample the delights of the east coast of Baja, with warm water and good diving. I'm staying with an Italian called Mauro. I'm the first guest in his newly-built hostel and have been helping out a bit with renovations.

Baja California is populated by a funny mix of US expats: divorcees, retirees, recovering alcoholics, practising alcoholics, hippies, racists, big game fishermen, dirtbike riders, amateur naturalists. They're all really kooky people.

I've had a lot of fun here: I've been out swimming with whale sharks, stingrays and sea lions. I've climbed a mountain. I've met a legend in the dive world. I've been fixing sailboats. I've learned to ride a motorbike. I've worked on the pitstops at the Baja 1000 Offroad Race. I've invented the choconana burrito. It's been an action-packed three weeks, but somehow I managed to squeeze in a lot of sitting around on my bum watching sunrises and sunsets. 

But now it's time to move on....
