After 6 months of living with a Paraguayan family, I decided to find my own place. Luckily, I found a great house with the help of friends in the community. I´m renting a spacious house near the high school. I have a large foom where I keep all my books and materials for work. Then a smaller room where I´ve begun taping up all the pictures I brought with me from home and the new ones I´ve taken here. Across from the small room is the bathroom. I recently got hot water...unfortunetly I don´t use it because it is blazing hot here now.

The next room is my bedroom. I have a bed and armour. The kitchen is right outside the bedroom door. I bought a stove, fridge, and large table and they are all functioning great! I´m very happy to be cooking for myslef again...especially with the buffalo wild wings sauces that came as birthday gifts..thanks dad and Chris!

In the kitchen I have a large window and now that it is hot, my new favorite thing to do is sit in front of the window and watch baby hummingbirds in a nest in the tree. I also have a back room to the house that leads to a small patio. The patio is shaded by a few trees during the day. A fabulous luxury for the Paraguayan heat. I recently found out one of the trees is a lemon tree and the other is a peach tree. The fruits are starting to grow and I´m anxious to start eating the fruit off of my own trees!

Sending our love!!!
Dearest Sammi,
THings are really looking great for you. We are excited to hear more about your home. WHere did you ever get all the appliances, furniture, etc??? We didn't get any pictures--maybe there weren't any. Where does one get meat?? Grocery?? Homegrown by farmers?? I know you will enjoy all the vegetables and what a good cook you will turn out to be. Maybe you can cook one of your favorite recipes for us when you come home. We miss you very, very much and brag to everyone about how proud we are of you. Best of luck with your new house and your teaching, etc. We love you. grandma and grandpa (Bring home an empty suitcase so that we can fill it with the treats you wanted.)

Sam!
Hey Sam!
How exciting to have your own house! It sounds like it's all working out for you really well- I'm so happy to hear all about it! Big news here! Jeff and Gina are engaged!! They'll get married next summer I believe. Darin is doing well in Duluth with his new job with an environmental group, and Fletcher is going to UMD and living with Zach. Amber is rocking it out- she's done a lot to the house, and it looks really great. Mojo is so well-behaved and trained! I'll be going up there next weekend for Katie's surprise party.

Fletch, Darin and I have discussed going to Ecuador to visit Fletcher's uncle next summer, but nothing has been decided. If we do, we'll let you know. Who know's maybe we could meet up somehow! Well, best of luck in the new casa! Love you lots, hope to hear from you again soon!

Request Info
Hi, saw you travel blog. I am a RPCV from Quiindy from the mid 1970's. Would like to come back for a visit, but not sure what to expect. I was trying to find PCV's from Paraguay on the net - especially a a main office site. I assume there is still a Director located in Paraguay.
Basically looking for info on best places to stay -
transportation - cost not an issue. Anything you can provide would be helpful. Not sure when I would come yet. I am flexible.

Hey there!
Glad to hear you are doing great! I should have had you take me with you! LOL! I miss CMJC which closed last may . . . I went to school for CNA and got a full time nights position last July, have been looking for a different job ever since! It is around 5 degrees right now & snowing, has been really cold off & on for the last few weeks, as low as 50 below with wind chill. Send us some warm air please! Best wishes & take care, Jodi
