This is a story of a mysterious creature lurking in my bedroom...
It all started one night when another volunteer was walking by my house and had asked to use my bathroom. I lead this trainee into my room and decided that I didnīt need to turn on the light because I knew my way around and it wasnīt completely dark out yet. As I casually walked to my bathroom door and slowly pushed it open, a small living animal raced through past my feet and through the other traineeīs legs. I jumped a little and looked at the other trainee.
We were convinced it was a rodent!!!! As I left the room, I was a little scared and tried to leave my light on when I left my room over the next few days. Each day I slowly crept into my room...just waiting to discover a huge animal on my bed.
A couple of days later, once I became more comfortable in my room again, I casually went to my bedroom door after talking with my host family. As I opened my bedroom door I saw it! It was lying next to my bed. Itīs huge, red eyes glaring at me as if I were itīs supper. I took a step back and nothing came out of my mouth.... I kept backing up until my host mom noticed me and with a confused look on her face, she asked me what was wrong.
Nothing came out of my mouth...Not English, not Spanish, not Guaranė. All I could do was point towards the ugly creature. All of my family members came to my doorway to see the mysterious creature that had been using my room.
My host mom and dad took the broom and entered my room. Like a small child, I looked on from the doorway as they chased it around and finally killed it. Luckily it had gotten into some ant poison so it was practically dying anyway. I am so glad for the heroes that saved my life that day.
Are you all wondering what this crazy, mysterious creature is.................................

Hey Sam
Hi Sam, I am so glad I had my cell phone with me so I didn't miss your call. I am carrying it with me all the time now so I don't miss your call. It was great to hear from you! Kind of weird waiting for the delay tho, but not to bad because I can hear my echo, and when the echo is gone, I know you heard me then. A rat I can handle, if it would have been a snake, I would have been like a cat, jumped up on the ceiling with my claws, and not come down. I wish you would have gotten my letter, and sorry I haven't written another, but will do that asap. I love you, Dad
HI Sammi
Ok I've been waiting for the 'creature' story....I don't think I could have slept in the room knowing something else was living with me.....But like your Dad, had it been a snake I woulda been on the next plane home....Glad to hear everything is going so well but I knew it would....It's great to hear about your life down there and know what great things you are going to be doing down there. I'm sure your host family knows how lucky they got, in getting picked as your family. Take care...Be careful...Miss you...Love, Chris
Hey
Oh my Gosh, that was so funny! I am sitting at work laughing pretty hard! I can so see you looking for this big rat in your room. Sounds like things are going well for you! I am happy that you are having this experience. Keep the stories coming. I look forward to hearing about your journey!
Raton!
Dios Mio! Happy early St. Patties! No Mr. D's this year, but we'll be rocking the Birthday Extravaganza (which happens to coencide with Brewfest!) Needless to say, we miss you very much and are even jealous of your rats!
Geeze louise!
That is disgusting! I would have pooped my pants...twice! LOL! I hope that you have a great weekend...we are going to be celebrating St. Paddy's day here in St. Louis Park, so I'll be thinking about you. Talk to you soon :)
