Where I stayed
So once it was light we packed everything up into soggy bags and hit the road again. Pretty much everything soaked through (and it was still raining, and the forecast was more and more rain until Tuesday) so it was on a train to fairer climes.
We hopped on one to Salzburg before a quick turnaround to get in one to Ljubljana. Now this was very confusing because on arriving at the HUGE station at Salzburg, we asked at the desk and discovered we had a few minutes before the train we needed
Woohoo we made it!! So we smugly boarded and took a seat, about to rustle up a make shift sandwich from our dwindling supplies, when the train started rolling away and they announced 'welcome aboard the train to Frankfurt'.
WHAT?! But the train had already picked up speed so Simon searched up n down the train to find someone that might know what was going on. Apparently this train was in 2 sections and further down the track 1 half would continue to Frankfurt, while the other would continue to Slovenia (where we wanted to go). So we basically had to work out which end of the train was which and quickly! So we ran all the way to one end and looked out the window, but could see no more carriages; so then ran to the other end of the train as far as it would let us and had to wait for a bend to see if there was any more train. Ah hah, there was! The train then came to a stop so we leapt off, ran alongside to the next carriage and jumped back on before it began rolling again!!
But phew, we were now on the right train!! Feeling satisfied with ourselves we casually made our way along this train to find seats. Hmmm, full full full. And then we got to the very back of the train. But this was actually a pretty cool view so we made a camp with our bags and parked our bums, gazing out to the glorious mountain views (although it was still raining).
We eventually arrived in Ljubljana (Slovenia) at half 6, still dragging along our soggy bags and tent. Ok so maybe we would stretch to a hotel to be able to dry out our stuff.
So here we are in the hostel section of the Hotel Park in the city of Ljubljana. And we each have a bed!!!!!! Wowee had forgotten what it's like to have a mattress n pillow!!! Absolute bliss :)
