After getting the boat across Lake Arenal we took a jeep up to the picturesque highlands of Monteverde. On arrival at our hostel I absently flicked through the leaflets of attractions on offer in the area while AP was having a poo, only to come across one for a bungee... interesting. So of course quite excited by this prospect asked him if he would like to try such experience, but only to have Johnny (the host) inform us that the bungees are always booked up so didn't think we'd be able to. To this AP's confidence grows ("Ah, what a shame. Well maybe another time") but Johnny kindly offered to give them a call just to check. What's that? They have 2 spaces for the 1pm slot? That's in 1 hour? "We'll take them!!" I shout. Haha, Done.

Uh oh, so about 10 more poos and several shades of white later, AP is terrified. Being the kind and considerate soul that I am, I make him to go first. The bungee is actually performed from a platform which is suspended on cables above a MAHUSIVE canyon, making it all the more shit-your-pants-y. If you paused to take a look around the views were incredible though with breathtaking panorama of the Nicoya Peninsula. 3-2-1 BUNGEE! Awesome sensation of free-falling the 143m drop and then bouncing and hanging suspended by your ankles. Extreme!

Coupled with the bungee we also did the Giant Tarzan Swing which was equally epic! For this you are dangled over the side of the platform and then released to freefall 50m before swooooooosh, swinging like a pendulum over the great canyon. Hardcore!

The next day we headed back up to the cloud forest for the Canopy Zipline Tour. This consisted of a combination of 14 zip lines throughout the rainforest with some traversing across the huge canyon (had to really hold tight on for those ones!) and a few that were tandem to zip across together (just dont pair up with a fatty). Another one did a quick vertical drop down through the canopy which added some excitement and the final one was a 'Superman' zipline. This is 180m high, where you are dangling like superman, flying like a bird along the 1km long cable to the other side. Incredible. (but also very difficult to breathe in the harness)
