Just a quickie tonight to say we're here! It's currently 1.33am and unsurprisingly we're both exhausted.
We arrived in Helsinki at 1pm (Fin time) and stepped into our lovely little apartment at about 3.30pm. We've already found our local supermarket (K Market = Tesco Express, only more expensive) and have stocked up on Rice Krispies and Moomin biscuits (which don't contain actual Moomins you'll be pleased to hear!).
Somewhere around 5.30pm we stumbled on the Olympic Stadium. It's not hard to find, we were just stumbling by this point.
The Denmark fans made a noisy and impressive entrance (showing up their team a little bit!) with their well-rehearsed drumming group. For a brief moment a small part of me wished I was Danish
The opening ceremony was short and sweet, and the first half was nothing special. The second half was a marked improvement with Finland showing Denmark how football should be played. They won 1-0.
Mike joined us on our stroll back to the centre to find some food. Don't ask what it was, we really don't know, but it filled a hole! And now we're back in the apartment (more on that tomorrow!) trying to gather strength to go to bed.
Oh, bumped into Pav and Hope after the match - it felt like China all over again!
Bed calls, speak tomorrow.
ps sorry for the rambles, brain is a bit mushy!
