My flight to Seattle airport from San Francisco finally left at 1 in the afternoon, in oppose to 10 in the morning. Matt's flight was also delayed, so I saw him at the airport on the day I was leaving, and managed to say goodbye to him about 3 times! As each time he would come back as his flight was delayed.

When I arrived in Seattle, I saw Richard from far away. You can't miss that magnificent smile on his face. Richard and his wife Sheila are two lovely people from Burlington, I met while I was in the Amazon in Ecuador. I had promised them that I would come to see them while I was in the US. And although I was uncertain about my plans at the time and even up to about 1 month ago. They send me an email with a beautiful quotation from a friend of theirs, saying: "Everything is going according to plan, plans are made to be changed, everything has changed, therefore, everything is going according to plan." I was so thrilled to receive something like this from this, knowing that no matter what I decide to do and when I decide to go and see them, I was always welcome 01 day 1 Ross Lake

. Richard and Sheila are very young at heart and very active people. They live in what I consider one of the most scenic places in the world. Right in the country, where they have the gorgeous mountains on one side and the beautiful Islands on the other side. You can even drive to Vancouver from here and it will only take your almost 2 hours! Or you could catch the ferry to Victoria, BC and that will take you about 5 hours.

The first day I arrived in Burlington, which was a good 1 hour drive from Seattle, I talked to Richard and Sheila about my travels and before I knew it, it was time to go to bed. The second day, we got up relatively early in the morning, and began our journey to Winthrop via highway 20, past Diablo and Ross lake and drove over Washington pass at 5477 feet. On the way to Winthrop we drove through Sedro Woolley, concrete (which was so small that before you could finish saying the name, you were leaving the town), Rockport, Marble Mount (where we stopped for a break and it also had the smallest church I have ever seen) and New halem.

The second day, we got up even earlier in the morning, made our way to Krispy Kreme which I was thrilled to know, that it was only round the corner and I had my fresh, hot glazed donuts. Then we made our way to the ferry terminal, via highway 20 and 20 Spur to Anacortes, got on the ferry and traveled through San Juan Islands to Friday Harbour on San Juan Island. On that Island I went to visit a Whale museum and had lunch at Downrigger Restaurant. Got the Ferry back to Anacortes, while seeing the beautiful mount Baker.

In the afternoon I went to Meadowgate Equestrian Centre, which is a horse training centre for dressage and riding. Sheila has been involved in riding for the last 8 years, which I am very proud of her, since she was 54 when she started riding. Isn't that something? I had a great time with Sheila and the horses and not to mention the lovely Elliot, who was the dog. The name of the trainer was Stephanie, and her and her 2 sisters were in charge of running the place and their parents owned it since early 80s when they moved here from Malibu.
