The great Buddha in Leshan

This morning we left our hotel at about 9 in the morning. It is a great hour of the day you would think! However, today I actually felt even more tired than yesterday. I could hardly open my eyes and the thought of having to have a shower and get dressed and eat something and go out, was just too much! Today we travelled to Leshan which is approximately two hours away from Chengdu. Leshan is famous for the Great Buddha. It is carved from stones and it stands at 71 meters above the ground. It is quite a magnificent site to see. The weather unfortunately at this time of the year is very misty. Even more so, in this area, particularly in Chengdu as it is like a valley surrounded by high mountains. The mist gives it a more dramatic and mysterious look, very much like Yingshuo and our cycling trip.
Apart from being on the bus for two hours there and two hours back and seeing the Budha we didn't do anything else. Right now I am at the internet cafe with Emma and in a bout 4 hours time I shall leave this place and head back to the same place we went to last night for the Opera, as the streets look absolutely pretty at night and we wanted to take a walk. We have to get up at 5 tomorrow morning as we are catching a flight to Lhasa! :[
