Our last town to stay in Jordan was Aqaba. It is quite a pretty little coastal town. It is considered to be the window of Jordan to the sea and boats with some excellent snorkle and dive spots. It had a mediterranean feel to it, with the calming atmosphere and balmy weather. We arrived in Aqaba around noon, checked in and headed to Mac D for some nice processed food! :) That night Nick, Theunis, Rebecca and myself went out for a walk along the sea and checked out the Market. It is quite nice and vibrant and to be honest all of the towns in middle east are full of life, specially late at night.

The following morning we began our Journey to Egypt. We left Aqaba, boarding the hydrofoil to Nuweiba and were transfered to Dahab on the red Sea coast. The travelling all together took us approximately 6-7 hours. The security on the hydrofoil was quite strict, I think they are taking all the necessary precautions!

We arrived in Dahab, we were welcomed by the most amazing and friendliest locals I have met before. One guy called Abdullah was part of out tour and a friend of Jackie. It was so nice to meet such friendly people. From the first instance we arrived in Dahab, I really liked the place. It is a very small town, nothing like I expected. I imagined somewhere quite big and busy, but it was neither. It is more like a coastal town with a lot of cute cafes and bars on the Beach. Perfect place to relax. Dahab in Arabic means gold. And to be honest with the amazing Beaches and variety of coral gardens and coloured reefs, there is no surprise why it is called that. That night I went for a night dive at the sea. This was my very first night dive, and I can tell you it was fantastic. It was a little bit spooky, going into the sea at night and specially going under, but once I was diving, it felt so good. The night live at the buttom of the sea was quite facinating. We turned off our torches at one point, and if you move your legs and arms vigorously, you can see the flourescent planktons. It was so nice.

After the dive which took us 54 minutes, down to 15 mts, we went to the bar to meet the others and our night of dancing begans shortly after that. We went to one of the clubs and stayed out till about 4 in the morning. There were alot of young foreigners there. Alot of them work there, mostly as dive masters, but also we met alot of tourists and the locals were very nice.

The next morning we woke up around 8 and headed to the sea again for a morning of snorkling. It was amazing to see such beautiful corals and reefs. I really enjoyed myself, and although at first I didn't want to go, due to a massive headache, but I was glad I went.

I really liked Dahab, and there is a high possibility that Steve and I will return to Dahab at the end of our tour to relax a little bit, before we go onto the next adventure. Steve might also take up diving, which would be cool.
