PAMUKKALE - FETHIYE - GULET

This was the most fantastic part of the trip so far. We left our hotel in Pamukkale in the early hours of the morning of Friday heading towards Fethiye where our boat was waiting for us. The journey on the bus was about 4 hours. We drove up the mountains where the sceneray was absolutely beautiful. In some places the bus was so close to the edge of the road that you felt any minute it will fall down. Of course it didn`t! :)
Once we got to our boat we dropped our stuff off and headed into the little town to get some food. We found a fantastic patessary that sold amazing baklavas! yum yum! we got some and headed back to the boat. The boat was really nice. We were then taken to a very cute island where we spent the night on the Gulet. Of course we did a lot of swimming and some snorkling. There were some little fish to see. We had dinner on the Gulet and slept on the deck. I can`t tell you how beautiful the night looked. I took some pictures of the moon which you will see. Steve was unfortunately a little bit unwell! He had a little bit of shivers that night. But thankfully he recovered by the morning. Actually come to think of it he was playing cards last time I checked on him before going to sleep. And he was winning! He had two ladies looking after him too! Which if you ask me, the whole thing was a scam! :) well I am happy that he is smiling now, eventhough it means I have to beat him at the card game tonight! We played a game where back in Iran we used to play, called Hokm. I think in English they call it 500! It was fun, but the Turks take their games very seriously! And since the Captain was playing, we thought we ought to let him win! Mind you with the amount of cheating they did, they made sure he won! AAAARGH! :)
We left the boat this morning, with much regret. But I am sure that great experiences and days are awaiting us. We are in a town called Dalyan. It ýs famous for the Kanous city and the Acropolis wýth the temple of Aphrodite and Apolo. Not to mention the amazing tombs carved into the mountains. We had yet another hike up the mountains today in search of Acropolis, which was unsuccessful. We then came back down and asked the locals and they told us there is a road leading to it! We found it! Steve, Lance and I went in, as we had to pay 5TYL (2.50 pounds) for it. We got in and walked for about two minutes, looked to our left and found a gate open. That gate lead to the same road we came from and no one was guarding it! :(
Right now we are just relaxing and hopefully soon we will go to somewhere to get something to eat. Unfortunately this little town we are staying at is full of Tourists which has had a significant impact on the prices! More thumbnails ...
