Sam: Since our last update, the temperatures on the island have increased significantly. That fact, combined with Lee's birthday gave us an excuse to do something a little special. When I asked Lee what he wanted to do to celebrate his birthday, he said "I want to sail around the island on a giant sailing boat!" So that’s exactly what we did! We booked a day trip that involved visiting the neighbouring island of Leros, snorkeling in a secluded cove, eating a fabulous BBQ lunch on board our boat and exploring Leros for a couple of hours. We had a lovely day and were both truly exhausted when we returned to our studio that afternoon.

Lee: Sam's skin doctor will be pleased to know I'm on her back all the time about sunscreen and protective clothes. The downside of this is that the only part of her getting tanned is her ankles. So she now has brown ankles which I have christened "bankles".
Sam: The increased temperatures have also seen us spending our afternoons looking for new swimming spots. One of the best spots is directly in front of our studio where we can jump off the rocks into really deep water. Getting to this spot is a little adventure in itself... we have to walk down heaps of stairs, jump some fences and balance along some dodgy planks of wood to reach it, but the white sand and turquoise water makes it totally worth it.

Lee: The climbing has been going good. We've both managed a few personal bests in certain aspects of our climbing. At last count, the ticklist for the both of us is at 281 climbs. We've also made some great friends, American, French Canadian, Dutch and Aussies too. When you're travelling it seems you form really tight bonds really quickly. Something about being out of the usual 'home' routine and more receptive to socialising? Plus, everyone's happy because they're on holidays. Regardless, we've already made plans to try to catch up with our new friends down the track in other parts of the world.
Sam: Unfortunately we only have 2.5 days left here now. Time has really flown. I am feeling quite sad about leaving this place, but also excited about what adventures lie ahead. I guess I am nervous that we won’t find another place as perfect as this and I will certainly miss the “routine” of our daily lives that we’ve so easily settled into here at Kalymnos.
