We got to Iguassu in the morning. It was pouring so we decided to rearrange things and go to the Brazilian side of the falls on our last day instead of our first day. Instead, we went to Paraguay, which is just round the corner. Paraguay is supposedly the knock off central of South America. People from Brazil go there to stock up on fake stuff and then sell it in Brazil.
It was a little more expensive than I thought it would be and the stuff really wasn't that great. I got a DVD of Body of Lies, which hopefully will be in English, and some 'Ray Ban' sunglasses for £4. A man tried to sell us all beard trimmers. We all got caught up in the bargaining and despite having a pact not to shave until Rio (at least), 4 of us bought beard trimmers. What a complete waste of money. Especially because I instantly dropped mine in a puddle, rendering it useless.
Emma and King James both bought laptops. King only went in to help her get a good one and ended up buying one for himself as well.
On the second day, we went to the Argentinian side of the falls. The falls are split at the deepest point, so part is in Brazil and part is in Argentina. It was still raning quite a lot but it meant that there was much more water falling, which is kinda what you go to a waterfall to see. We got a train then walked to the Devil's Throat, the biggest water fall. There was a big mixture of spray and mist but the view was still incredible. Then we spent an hour or so walked to different falls ans seeing the falls from different views.
After linch, we went on a boat down the river. We went up the rapids and towards the 3 musketeers waterfalls. The boat went into 1 of them and we got a little bit wet. Then we went towards one of the larger waterfalls and went under it. Normally groups go under once, maybe twice. We did it 4 or 5 times because we kept shouting for Uno Mas! (one more!) and they kept giving us one more. We were absolutely drenched. We might as well have jumped in. It was hilarious. We walked back and got changed, then got a bus back to our hotel in Brazil.
On the third day, we went to the Brazilian side. This side offers a more panoramic view of the waterfalls and gives (possibly) a better view. The walk is supposed to take about an hour and a half but we did it in quite a lot less because of the torrential rain. We stopped quickly at a few places to take photos but not too often or for too long. The rain was so torrential that the waterfalls were much bigger and the spray was huge. It made the whole scene seem quite 'angry' and made the panoramic views immense.
We went to one lookout point and Clare decided to take a jumping photo. Her flip flop (left) flew off and down the nearest waterfall. It was hilarious. Not just for us, but also for every tourist standing close to us. We got a wet bus back to out hotel and left that evening to take an epic bus journey to Paraty.
Iguassu was the first time we went to a Kilo place to eat. You fill your plate, like at a buffet, and then they weigh it and you pay for exactly how much you eat. Great idea.
