Two notes for travellers:
1. Arriving on a Sunday sucks as nothing is open and everyone is in hibernation. Well kind of, this Sunday everyone in Stockholm seemed to be competing in a triathlon blocking off all the streets.
2. When arriving around lunch time don't assume luggage lockers will be free. They won't be and you'll end up prowling the rows like hungry wolves stalking prey which turns out to be more bambi than stag and with our backpacks barely fitting we were forced to pounce on not one but three lockers and pay 18 quid for the privilege
Once they were safely stowed away we were free to roam the streets until meeting up with my friend from work Lena and her gorgeous little boy Harry who we were fortunate enough to stay with for our two nights in Stockholm.
We were blessed with sunshine and warmth so had a great time exploring the city and some of its island pockets and historical buildings. Stopped off for a glass of bubbles in cobbled Old Town, walked along the waterfront to Fotografiska and Helmut Newton's photography exhibition, circled the Royal Palace and enjoyed a lovely meal out with Lena and Harry in a trendy part of town we may not have otherwise discovered.
Having only one and a half days there we left feeling there were still a million and one things we hadn't discovered but thoroughly enjoyed the time that we had.
