More rain. I'm beginning to wonder if sunshine exists in Norway. Beautiful country yes but terrible weather. Urrrgh and having to do a hike in it - really?!?! Yes was Sam's response so on with the walking shoes, sexy waterproof trousers, fleece and off we go. Driving up a zigzag mountain road made my morning routine of makeup slightly more difficult, yes just because I now have to wear crap clothes doesn't mean I can't wear makeup.

Getting to the start of the hike saw fog, fog and more fog. Happy days, the views I'm sure were amazing but we couldn't see shit. Still, onwards and upwards we clambered up rocks using chains until we found ourselves in an abyss of white. Unsure where to go two others emerged also lost, luckily a man was following closely behind with a gps so we grouped together and set off in what modern technology was telling us was the right direction. Thankfully it was and soon enough we found what we had been looking for - Kjeragbolten - a boulder stuck between two rocks suspended hundreds of meters above Lysefjorden.

Not being able to see anything made climbing onto it a relatively easy process, minus the slippery rocks and knowledge of certain death should you fall. Photos taken we were about to head off when the heavens cleared and for a brief moment you were greeted with views for miles. Wow! You have to love Norway's total disregard for health & safety but I really am amazed no one has plunged to their death. I tried to get back on the rock for a clear photo but alas the clouds came back in and once again all returned to white.

Starting the climb down saw the clouds lift and views emerge treating us to the spectacle we had missed on the way up. Certainly made navigating a lot easier! After a 4 1/2 hour round trip we were back at the car with trainers off, flipflops on an a piece of chocolate cake for reward.

The day however was not over so it was back in the car for a 3 1/2 hour drive to our overnight destination of Roldal.
