I flew back to Bamako this morning - by coincindence seeing Male at Mopti airport (he was on his way to see his mum in Timbuktu). Male seemed very protective of me as he knew I had been sick. Tall and Boubacar had farewelled me at the airport after ensuring I had taken a million Immodium.

Therese kindly retrieved me from Bamako airport and took me home. I was still very unwell so we stopped in to see her friend Ciaka who is a doctor on the way back. He took my blood pressure, told me it was low, and said I could have Malria. My eyes must have widened in shock as he followed that swiftly with, "You coming to Africa and getting Malaria is just like me going to the UK and getting a cold.". I DON'T THINK SO! Malaria or a digestive parasite were not the type of souvenirs I had in mind. We went home, I had a rest and the intention of going down to the market to get some last minute things and some thank you items for Therese.

I managed to eat (and savour) a cheese and vegemite sandwhich and a fanta, the first food I had wanted to eat for about 4 days. Things were looking up for the journey home. I slept the day away by accident, then saw my lunch for a second time just as Therese got home. She went to the pharmacy and got an injection to stop me vommitting so that I'd be able to fly home. Things had hit an all time low. I was considering jacking in the whole trip and flying straight back to Oz. Morale was LOW.

I was very weak at the airport and leaned heavily on my trolley praying I would be checked in without anyone noticing how ill I was. I just wanted to be at home (wherever that now was...)
