The morning after boxing day we headed off on a road trip with Will and Liz to explore what Liz's home town of Warrnambool had to offer. Although only a few towns away the journey took around 5 hours. Due to the vast size of the country, the Aussies don't think twice about driving this kind of distance in one go - it makes England seem so small and close - something worth remembering when we get home. With miles and miles of straight road it's hard to stay focussed but the regular signs reading 'microsleep kill' and 'drowsy drivers die' soon jolt you up! - RTAs are a common problem in Australia, especially over the christmas period - the TV adverts are horribly graphic.
We arrived for the second time at the Moloney's farm in the late afternoon and headed straight to the local water-hole to cool off. This is a big hole in a curve of the river with refreshing, clean water to swim in - it had a diving board too! After about an hour of shenanigans with three of Liz's siblings we returned back home for a tasty family meal (plus Sam & Chantal) on the verranda looking over the farm 1- a 'textbook' dive by Chantal

We spent three nights in Warrnambool before starting our road trip to Adelaide. During this time we......
- went to a service at the family's Catholic church - played cricket and basketball with the kids (and Jack the dog)- had a taste of Warrnambool night life at the 'Gallery' with their friend Squidger!- enjoyed the Moloney's great hospitality and big family (11 kids!)- watched Australia lose the cricket to South Africa (again)
The four of us headed out on our road trip on the 29th December with fond and grateful memories of our stay with the Moloney's.
On the way to Meningie (our half way stop over) we dropped into 2 wineries in the Coonawara district for wine and cheese tasting (very grown up!), which is good fun if you're not the designated driver (thanks Will!).
We stayed the night in Meningie. This turned out to be a bit of a ghost town but we made the most of it by ignoring the locals stares in the pub, scoffing down tasty flake and chips and beating Chantal and Liz at a card game we'd learnt in Nepal - '10 killer'.
...off to Glenelg....
