On Christmas eve day we did a few last minute bits and bobs on Glenferrie road - a little odd in the glorious sunshine! (enjoying frozen yoghurt). That afternoon we opened our Christmas card from Richard and Fi...what a scrummy brother & sister in law they are.. as inside was a voucher for 'Butchers Grill' a very smart restaurant on the newly built Docklands area in Melbourne. After a few evening drinks with Peter and Flip, Virginia (Flip's sister) and Ian, and their friends Jan and Tony Nobblet, we hopped on a few free trams to the city centre. The sun was setting and it was just perfect, we had the most delicious meal and bottle of wine and for the first time we didn't have to worry about how much it cost!
On Christmas day we all woke very excited.. including Peter, Flip and the puppy! We opened pressies in our PJ's with a lovely cup of tea all together in the lounge. (Puppy was loving the wrapping paper more than the pressies!) We got a few special gifts from each other; my white billabong jumper, a travel towel for smelly sam and a promise to let him skydive in NZ
We then all touttled off to Virginia and Ian's for a proper Christmas lunch. There we were joined by Nick (Virginia and Ian's son), wife Belinda and Spencer (14 months). We had a glass or 2 of champers then straight in to the amazing Christmas spread; turkey, ham, roasties and so much veg! (Crackers and party poppers!!) followed by Christmas pudding with homemade brandy butter...mmmmmm. Sam finished the afternoon with a quick dip in the pool with Edward, just to show off his new swimming trunks from Flip!
On Boxing day we hopped out of bed early to catch the train to the MCG, where we met up with Will and Liz to watch the Boxing day Test. The stadium was MASSIVE.. full capacity holds 110,000, for the test there was approx. 65,000!! Woweeee. It was great, very relaxing, sunny, and Sam finally had a boy to talk to about the cricket..thats when Liz and I sneaked off to go shopping for a few hours.. I'm sure they never even noticed! We finished the day by heading over to Anna and Matts for a few prawns on the barbie and a farewell drink with Peter and Flip. It was sad to say goodbye as it was just lovely to be part of their family for a month. I know we'll really miss them all!
