Happy Christmas everyone! I expect you all will be waking up about now, just as we are finishing our Christmas Day. We have been thinking of all of you today, and hope you will all forgive us for being so far away on such a special day.

Unfortunately we haven't been sunning ourselves on a beach as anticipated, instead we have been avoiding the rain and howling wind. We managed to make it out today during a brief let up in the weather (yesterday I went out twice and both times ended up having to change all the clothes I was wearing as I was drenched; i didn't think to pack waterproof trousers for NZ!).

This morning we attended a local church's Christmas service to try and help us to feel like it was Christmas. The rain has in fact helped us to feel Christmassy, but it is still rather too warm for any sensible Christmas celebrations! However the Kiwis do put on a good show, I have seen several Santa hats today, and have been assured that they eat a big Christmas meal like us. All the carols we sang were the same too, except for O Little Town of Bethlehem, to which there appeared to be no tune at all!

We have been for a Christmas walk to some nearby waterfalls and explored a local town called KeriKeri. The forests here are sub-tropical, and look really different from those back home, they also sound so different which really surprised me. There seem to be thousands of crickets and the birds sing very differently too. To end the day we had a lovely Christmas dinner out at a restaurant on the waterfront. No turkey in site, but I did manage to find some Christmas ham!

We really hope you've all had a wonderful day!

Good morning! It's early on Friday 28th and I imagine you coming to the end of the day as ours is just beginning. At CB alls quiet which either means 3 small people are still asleep or glued to a screen somewhere. ... Lovely to find latest news from you, we were thinking that maybe blogging is a pressure you don't need when you're enjoying a real holiday,so thank you for sharing your Christmas and giving a very clear picture of the day. So sorry about the rain there, it's been pretty nonstop here but in the UK that's only to be expected though maybe not on the scale we're getting it now. Constant flood alerts on the news. Poor people whose Christmas has literally been washed away. Do hope you find the proper NZ summer as you travel south now. Who'd have thought you'd need waterproofs for this adventure? I smiled about the carols - can't imagine OLTOB without a tune! Christmas was fun, and we imagined you getting there ahead of us! We had a lovely day at Millway yesterday.-everyone on good form, house looking beautiful, delicious food, delightful shows courtesy of Mads and Sophie! and four excited little boys pushing up the decibels by the second! Wherever you are when you read this,be sure you're missed and thought of lots, and may every day be full of unforgettable memories xx

Hi Sammy and Anna, a very happy belated Christmas to you. We've all been talking about you wondering what you're up to and I've been following your blog - great idea. We came to CB late on Christmas Day and have been busy visiting different family. Today, we're going to Stoke Poges to see the Lathams. We're starting to wind down and chill a bit after the Christmas busyness and the children are doing well with Christmas TV and new DS's! Thank you so much for the token and the children's pressies. Really kind of you. I'm sorry to read about the rain which you weren't expecting and having to buy waterproofs. I hope that you're managing to get out more now and have managed to experience the festive season. Hopefully you'll also find a good place to be at New Year.
We really enjoyed seeing Maff and Sas's house. It looks fantastic and was very spacious to fit all the children! We're staying at CB till the 31st and then going home for a fancy dress NYE party.
Guess you'll be going to bed soon and we're just about to have breakfast!
Lots of love and hope you're having fun. XXX
