Having both finished work at lunch time today, Sam and I met back at our flat slightly over-excited about our long planned adventure. Following some hasty last minute packing (and, from what I could hear, wrapping) we finally left our lovely flat and headed off.

We are now at the airport, both slightly fearful of the long flight ahead, but so looking forward to arriving in beautiful New Zealand. Next time I write we will have landed in Hong Kong!

Wow, blogging! How technology has changed since the first time I visited NZ in 1999 when emailing was new and a disposable camera the frontier of technology. In the main, Anna, my articulate and insightful better half will keep you updated on our trip (although any all blacks / sporting news will be mine to tell - I'm still trying to explain to anna the significance of shouting 38-21 very loudly to any Maori passers by). Until next time - I'm planning a rom-com, ahem action film marathon for the next 24 hours.

Ps. It wasn't wrapping, I was playing with some bubble wrap.

Delighted to discover the blog - its all so exciting for you! Friday morning here, 9.30 and on the other side of the world it must be nearly bed time unless you're thoroughly jet lagged of course - do hope all the travelling has gone well. Thinking of you so much and sending all love for every part of this wonderful holiday x x x x

Dont worry Anna I will not let your side of the family down by not writing. I am glad to see you made it to the airport and hope you have now arrived safely in NZ ready to start your adventure. It is wet and miserable here so I am hoping you are having better weather than we are. Missing both of you xx

I may not physically be with all my lovely family on Christmas Day but at least I shall be with you all in spirit from sunny Galashiels. I shall shout to you at 13.00 hrs on Christmas Day as I eat and drink ;my lunch on the little bridge at the end of Derek's special power walk road and if my communication skills are good the message Happy Christmas and love and happy holiday will arrive to all of you at the same time, - string theory. Love Winty. XX
