I'm only stopping in Singapore for one night on my way through to Thailand.  But it's nice to be back in a developed country for the first time since I was in America in August. however briefly I'm here.

The flight to Singapore was half empty and generally nice - except for the dumb AMerican on the shuttle to the airport.  She went off on one at the driver because he told her that she wanted the international terminal rather than the domestic terminal.  I could see his point, because she was only going to Sydney.  She got off at the international terminal anyway.  But the Americans are stupid.

I got into my hostel in Singapore at 7 in the evening.  I immediately changed into my most old-school outfit (not difficult as most of my clothes date back to the early 90s) and headed to Raffles hotel for a Singapore Sling.

Raffles wasn't what I had expected - they even let blokes with tattoos and earrings in.  I did expect the prices, however.  I tried to make up for it by eating as many free peanuts as I could.  But  I could see the barmaid looking at me sternly.  The expereience was worth it.  Though I do have one complaint.  Why, at a hotel as famous and expensive as Raffles, do they not shell the peanuts for you?
