I made the briefest of stops in Santiago, Chile, after a couple of days doing nothing in Lima. I'd heard that Santiago was a dump, but I thought I'g go and have a look round anyway. This plan was thwarted when I put my credit card into a cash machine - and it refused to give me cash.
I don't know about the city, but Santiago airport is a dump. I'm afraid this entry is photo-less because the McDonalds in Santiago airport looks like the Mcdonalds at any other airport.
The wait at the airport did allow me to catch up on some much needed sleep. I don't normally like to sleep in public because of my snoring / sleep talking / dribbling problems. But nobody seemed to notice. At least nobody woke me up.
I've liked South America a lot. But I am very ready to leave. You can have enough of earthquakes, mountains, glaciers and sheep. Next stop: New Zealand.
