Where I stayed
We spent the entire day at The Magic Kingdom in the Walt Disney World Resort!!! It was soooo worth blowing the budget to spend the day here. We started off the day eating the last of the yogurt's and biscuits we had bought at the supermarket the other day and then jumped onto the free shuttle headed towards Disney.
We arrived at the perfect time, just as the gates were opening, so we bought our ticket and headed over to where the first ferryboat of the day was boarding, to take us and a whole bunch of other people across the lake to the gates of the park. It was really good, we could see Sleeping Beauty's castle get bigger and bigger on the horizon until we were disembarking and it was only a short walk ahead of us!
It is sooo much better like this than when I came with my family, as back then it was covered up so it looked like a giant cake.... gay - the real thing is much better!
After yet another bag search (I won't rant about it this time -even though I really want to!) a few minutes spent taking pictures with the characters that were outside the gates, and a quick jaunt to the shops down main street, we were soon outside of the castle, and there was already a show of sorts going on, all about wishes - the Disney theme of the year.
We left just before this finished so we could beat the crush and head to Tomorrowland and get a fast pass for Space Mountain. A fast pass is this really good thing that Disney has come up with since I was last here - you can only get one at a time but it means that you have a set time to go on a ride so you can use a shorter queue, its a really good system as it means for the big rides, you can get this pass then go and do some other stuff before you need to come back which is what we did. We had some lunch played around on some smaller rides and got followed by a talking rubbish bin, before seeing Buzz Lightyear! Best Disney character ever!!!
It turns out the fast pass queues are still pretty long, but oh well we know that now, luckily though we didn't come during any kind of school holidays which would be ridiculous! I remember Space Mountain as being really scary and full of massive drops and twists and turns... but in actuality its pretty lame really! We did get put off slightly though by the fact that it broke down for 15 minutes whilst we were waiting - we were meant to be getting in the next empty shuttle!!
We pretty much rushed through the Mickey's Toontown Fair area - we pretty much just took a few pictures then left as it is aimed at little kiddies rather than the big kiddies that we are!
We also didn't spend long in 'Fantasyland' either as a parade was about to begin and we were coming back to see the area later.
The 3pm parade was OK I guess, in all honesty though I didn't really pay much attention because I was so very boiling! There was a theme about following your dreams or something, but as it wasn't really very long it didn't really come across. By this point Rach had her Minnie ears and she swears that Minnie Mouse waved at her. I think she was hallucinating due to the heat!
Once the parade had finished we headed indoors for a little bit with a ride on the Haunted House, and then going on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in 'Adventureland', where we now was. The POTC ride was non negotiable for both me and Rach as they had recently added Jack Sparrow to the ride
Last but not least was 'Frontierland', home of both Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain Railroad. We managed to do both and even got off Splash Mountain fairly dry!
We wandered around and had some dinner and played with the penny squashing machines which was good fun before finding a good spot to watch the Spectro Magic Parade which comes round at 8pm ish! we both got something flashing to wear, and found a good spot, near to where we watched the parade this afternoon. It was awesome, and I'm not just saying that, all the lights went down, as the parades floats were covered in twinkly lights, as were all the characters costumes and props. Awesomeness.
The last part of our evening was spent back at Sleeping Beauty's castle, where we sat on the floor, with hundreds of other people to watch the fireworks... they were massive and made shapes and everything, it really makes you wonder how much they spend each year on fireworks - or well it does me anyway!!!
The bus back to the hotel left at midnight so we made our way back down main street with everyone else, stopping and grabbing a few last minute things, before we jumped back on the ferry and then onto the coach home.
We both fell straight to sleep as we were exhausted from such a truly magical day...
