It was only a few hours from DC to New York, the train journey being tiny in comparison to the one we had just endured and a couple we were looking forward to... as soon as we arrived at the station we headed straight to the hostel, which was only a few blocks away.

We found the hostel really easily once we had worked out which way was East and which West. We arrived and pretty much just checked in and dropped our bags, the place was not nice, our room was tiny, there was practically no floor space and the shower room was so small that you could barely even close the door once you were inside, anyway despite the place being a dive we ditched our bags taking all our valuables with us and headed straight back out again to Madison Square Gardens (which incidentally is just above the train station we had just arrived at) as we were going to see a basketball game, New York Knicks vs Orlando Magic.

It's weird I thought watching a basketball game would be like watching sport at home, ridiculously loud and full of people cheering and stuff, but it was soooo quiet, eerily so, well unless the Knicks scored of course.

Basketball is pretty boring, I thought it would be much quicker than it actually is, with points getting up quite high, but it must have been a really low scoring game, it was really close all the way through too, with the Knicks holding a slim lead until the last few minutes, when Orlando scored twice in quick succession and beat the Knicks with a 2 point margin! oh well!

It was odd, when Orlando scored their 2nd basket at the end people just started steaming out, I guess they realised that the Knicks had lost.

It was great night though. I can't believe that I am actually in New York
