"Strip Country"
of Northern Arizona

I believe the term "Strip Country" comes from the geographical strip of land at the northern most part of Arizona that, within Arizona, can only be accessed from the opposites ends of the Grand Canyon. See this ARIZONA map picture showing our basic route. CLICK ON PICTUREs TO ENLARGE THEM. Then Click on enlarged picture to load the next picture. (you will see all these pictures again)

We went over two of the largest dams in the world. Drove (on one day) over 120 miles on dirt and rocky road which resulted in a shredded tire. We saw deep canyons, the Great Colorado River, boulders the size of houses, and traveled to the remote areas of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Arizona.

Toroweap Point is on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon at one of the most dramatic photographic places in the Grand Canyon at the Colorado River. You can stand on the edge of the canyon and look straight down several thousand feet to the river. It is also one of the least visited areas because of the difficulty getting their, but, as you can see, it is amazing and beautiful.

NOTE (Day 3): I drove both ways on the dirt/rocky roads (my car) to and from Toroweap Point and at the end of the 4 hours driving on these dirty rocky roads and a flat tire:
- I FELT LIKE THE ROAD WAS NEVER, EVER, GOING TO END. IT JUST WENT ON, ON, AND ON. IN THE DUST AND DARK OF NIGHT IT APPEARED TO HAVE NO END. I FELT LIKE I HAD ALREADY BEEN DRIVING THE ROAD FOR ALL ETERNITY. I FELT LIKE I HAD DIED, GONE TO HELL, AND MY ETERNAL PUNISHMENT WAS TO DRIVE THIS ROAD FOR ALL THE REST OF ETERNITY. THERE WAS NO END. (Of course their was no physical suffering, it was actually a very memorable experience, it was just a weird, tiring, mental experience/feeling. Something to talk about for a long time.)

This was one of the many "Adventures" that Grandpa Ken takes his grandkids on to some where in Arizona. Some adults tag along. Adventures can be one day, two days, or in this case five days. On some trips we meet special friends and wild animals like "Alven." Yes, we are a little CRAZY.
