Well we arrived in Cusco at 5 in the morning and luckily managed to get beds in Loki, a hostl we stayed in in La Paz.  eally nice place with grass courtyards and hammocks etc.  Cusco is a rally nice town, very much like Florence.  W met up with Naimh again and also Alisa from La Paz.
We basically spent a few day just hanging out in Cusco.  Loads of places with yummy food that w mis, like real baked beans! and roat lamb and pies!  And just drinking in th hostel, really good crowd there.  Lot of fun had.
On Sat we set off to do our trek to Machu Picchu.  We were doing an alternative trek, not the inca trail ( booked up until September and we had been trying for 2 month to get it).  The first day was a bike ride all the way down into th jungle.  Brilliant fun.  We had a group with a couple of older Brazilians, a south African guy called David, and a girl called Alice who turned out had ben in th animal park with our frind Johnny for the last month.  She wasnt doing th bike ride part, but when we got off th bus to start it she also got off to go to the toilet and the bus drove off with all her stuff on it!  She was very lucky and caught up with it on the next bus nd got her stuff.
Like I said, bike ride really fun, me and David way in front.  Had to sit and have a beer when we got to the town we where staying in to wait for everyone else.
After dinnr had an early night, totally knackered.
Next day was th start of th walking.  We had to cross the river a fw times on thse little gondala things.  Literally `few planks of wood on a wire and someon pulled the wirs to get you across.  When we were on th first one a little boy got knocked of th edge by the wire.  Luckily was only a short fall, not the actual cliff.  But we all said how bad it could have been.  Little did we know.  The next one we got to me and Gemma went first.  But as soon as we went over the edge the guide was screaming at us.  I looked round and saw David hanging onto th wir behind with a look of sheer terror.  We got pulled back and he managed to get back to safty.  It turnd out his leg had got caught in the wire and it had pulled him over the edge.  Luckily he had th instinct to grab onto th wire or else he would have ben gone.  He did have massive rope burns though!
After that there were anymor major events! Instad it was a 2 hour 'walk' up a vertical hill through the jungle in torrential rain.  Was actully really good but after we stoppd for lunch my feet got really bad.  Apparently my walking boots arent water proof anymore so m fet got soaking and ended up with massive blisters and could barely walk.
The day ended in th most amazing hotsprings.  So nice.
Next day I couldnt do th walking in th morning because of my fet.  So instead I ended up in the back of a truck which looked like it was meant to have cows in it, and met everyone where they stopped for lunch.
Stupidly decided to do the walk in th afternoon.  Was total agony.  Ww arrived in Agua Calientes, the town below Machu Picchu and had pizza before bed.
Next morning we got up at 3.30am and began the 1 hour vertical walk up the stairs to Machu Picchu.  So hard!  All the steps are different heights and some are really big.  By the time I reachd th top I was exhaustd but it was worth it.  Me and David were the first 2 people at the gate waiting for it to open at 6.  When it did we went in and sat and watched the sunrise.  It was amazing and rally sureal.  Machu Picchu itself is totally awsome aswell.  Worth all the agony.  After a few hours we headed back down, got the bus!  And then off back to Cusco.
So we then spent the next few days treating ourselves to lots of food and drink, and really good massages for only 2 pounds!
Had a brilliant time in Cusco but its a place you just seem to get stuck in, tim just dissappears.  We eventually managd to gt a flight to Lima leaving on Monday morning with Naimh and Johhny.
