So after a couple of days in Bakersfield (small town on way to yosemite), where there isn't much going on and we could recouperate after Vegas, we headed north to 'Jan & Larry's' in Merced. Merced is another small town at the base of yosemite national park. We arrived by Amtrak train and Larry picked us up in his brown pick up - Sally was concerned. They turned out to be really nice (Jan was miserable) and we had a lecture from Larry on Yosemite valley and the fruits that they grow in Merced! haha

After a lovely wake up call at 6AM!! we caught the yarts bus up to Yosemite and curry village - we were there by 10am. Yosemite is breathtaking! Its so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big citys into the mountains. We originally were booked into an unheated tent cabin - but it was so cold we had to upgrade to a heated cabin with walls - definately worth it. Had our own bear box - for keeping food and fragrant things (not at all worrying) as although the bears are hibernating this time of year, some are still active.

We were very busy both Friday and Saturday - Sally fell over big time in the snow with her backpack on! hilarious. On Friday we hiked 2 miles up from the Valley to 'Vernal falls' - saw some of the worlds highest waterfalls. Great experience - definately recommend visiting the park! On Saturday it was a bit overcast but we still did a long walk over to 'mirror lake' and got some cool photos (luckily we didnt bump into any mountain lions - but we were ready for em!)

Curry village was the campsite where we stayed for the two nights - really good fun! Such a lovely setting with the mountains and waterfalls - even saw some racoons - Sally wanted to take one back as a pet! haha

Next blog will be San Francisco where we are at the moment - first impressions: seems like a really cool place - cant wait to explore and see the golden gate bridge! We're going on a Segway tour! Get in.

Love to you all and Happy Birthday to Nikki, Les (Dad), Max and Matt J!
Hope you are all well :D
