Hello, hello and a happy new year! Whilst I'm writing this I really should be finishing my packing although to be fair most of it is done with my magnificent lists and code referencing system -actually you wouldn't think there was a system at all if your saw my spare bedroom!
Had a lovely Christmas with my family in Leicester and then celebrated the coming of the new year with some jiving -excellent!
I've been madly chucking tracks and photos at my MP3 player (new one as I drowned the other one and it could not be resuccitated -pah! things aren't built to last or survive a drowning these days.......!)
Despite the cold have been enjoying walks in our local country parks and of course stopping to chat to dogs along the way - I saw the sweetest 12 week old boxer in Bradgate Park on bixing day(how appropriate!) and a lovely family of dalmatians at Barbury Castle just yesterday. Yes I think I'm going to get on well with animals.. they're certainly a lot less argumentative than us humans!
I'm flying from Heathrow on Friday to Kuala Lumpar - we start work proper on Monday at our appointed zoo -we're there for 15 days then fly to Kuching for a couple of days b4 going up river to the Iban tribe and living wiht them for 7 days and hopefully( keep everything crossed please) wild orangs - how cool would that be? Then back to Kuching and then KL and this is where things get interesting
I'm not sure how easy it will be to get access to the net for some of my trip as for some of each of my projects you are well off the tourist trail and the associated fripperies, so fear not if you don't hear anything for a couple of weeks as I suspect that is entirely likely.
Must carry on with the packing and preferably try and pull the house into some semblance of order - fat chance!
So, for the moment, au revoir and I look forward to updating you on my adventure b4 too long.

Lydiard Park Swindon looking rather pleasant
. I'm intending to fly to Siem Reap in Cambodia , work my way to Phnom Penn and then up into Laos and into Thailand(Bangkok) for the start of my Thailand wild" experience which involves 2 weeks learning to be a mahout as well as some cultural stuff and some loafing about . If I stick to my flight I will then on about 16th March fly to Auckland from KL and spend the next 2 months touring around. I know - it's all right for some isn't it?! Up and away
You'll be there by now and into the first part of your SE Asia experience. Enjoy every minute and let us all know how you're getting on when you're able to, you've got a lot of folk back home wishing you well with your new adventure.
An up and coming new travel reporter made her first appearance recently on Sky News!! Excellent.
