Hello Everyone,
We made it here safely but 3 hours late due to bad weather in New York. The weather here is cold and foggy. We spent all day yesterday in our apartment catching up on sleep. The apartment is very nice and has a real flushing toilet, a microwave, and a washing machine. We feel very lucky.
Today was our appointment at the adoption center. We were there at 9:30 am and waited only 5 to 10 minutes before we were taken back to meet with the psychologist. We were in a very small room with the psychologist, our translator, facilitator, and 2 other couples along with their crew. It was very tight quarters.
We explained that we would like to find a girl or boy under age 3. Our translator had already told us that there are no healthy children under age 4 available at this time. We were given one binder to look at that were all sick children under age 4. These children all had terminal illnesses. While we were looking though the binder, the psychologist brought over 3 files of healthy children. One was a seven year old girl but she has a brother who won't be available until December. The next child was a 5 year old boy who was listed as "active". The next little boy will be six in January and is a dead ringer for CJ. He is so cute and in perfect health. I knew immediately that this was the child God had chosen for us. Our facilitator called the orphanage to verify his health before we accepted the referral. His name is Alexander and is located in the Crimea region of Ukraine. That is south of Kiev and near the Black Sea. We have been told that this region is very beautiful and easy to work with. If all goes well, we could be home as planned on December 6th. We are now waiting for the official referral from the adoption center to go and meet him. Hopefully we will leave tomorrow night and ride a train for the 12 hour trip. We would then be able to meet the child on Friday morning. If we don't get the referral tomorrow, we will wait until Sunday night to leave.
So far everything has gone rather smoothly, except for getting our internet working and cell phone. We can't call out but people can call us. Our translator and his girlfriend spent all afternoon with us trying to get this internet working. They are great.
We haven't seen any sights because of the dense fog. It is cold and damp but no snow yet.
I am already homesick but very excited to meet this little boy. If we decide this is not the child for us, we will return to Kiev and wait for a second appointment. I don't expect that to happen. We prayed to find a healthy child on our first referral and God provided. It isn't what we planned for but obviously God has different plans for us.
I will try to keep everyone posted but it will depend on our internet.
Please keep us in your prayers.
Love,
Christy

I can't believe it.....
Now let me get this straight: the little boy you found is named Alexander and he will be six in January. Is this correct? Are you going to change his name? Does he speak English? What about school? He will have to start around the same time you have to go back. I know you haven't had time to process all this yourself, but what on earth are you going to do with all those little girl clothes? Our thoughts and prayers are with you both, and as long as you are happy, we are all happy for you as well. Please keep us posted as we are all anxiously awaiting your safe return home.
