Well after a big sat in Baños checking out the active volcano by day and then again by night to see the lava exploding a little I headed off for the jungle, even thou i was still quite sick. I also could leave baños without a bit of ¨clubbing¨ and dancing to reggaton with the local guys from the bar as well as watching the ecuador v england football game the next day on very little sleep and no voice(i could not even speak english let only try convey my spanish).
Anyway, after an overnight bus ride of 12 hours, a local bus ride along dirt road for another 3 hours and then a 3 hour motorised canoe ride did we reach our nice hut complete with mossie net. In the middle of the jungle, very close to the colombian boarder. Just so so so amazing, the things i saw, monkeys jumping from tree to tree, groups of tocans(my favorite) looking for food, pink river dolphins, fishing for piranas(so much fun, different to any other fishing cos you have to make lots of noise to attract them) what else, an ant eater, two anacondors, a local community where we dug out mancio or yucca and then made bread with it. even a tarancnala (i cant spell, a very big spider anyway). the forest was so intense, so thick, full of flowers and eplithtes and vines so many different plants to see. cant explain but the place has inspired me to do more for the environment so that places like this can be there forever as it is being detroyed at a alarming rate by the oil companies(where the big bucks are made) so one day very soon it will no longer be there, i am lucky to see it i think.
i had such a great experience that i cannot write it down, i was in my element, i evne extented my stay for another night, the guide Lenny, who knew everything about the jungle wanted me to stay longer, always the way but tempting this time!!! will upload photos as soon as possible.
