Tours was an unexpectedly large city with a lot of students. The city is located along the Loire river where many kings in the 16th century built there Renaissance style castles on top of old forts built during the 100 year war (14th - 15th century). Now these castles are open to the public where many tourists (like us) flock to get a glimpse of the decadent lifestyles these royals used to live. Our guide was telling us that you can actually buy a small castle for under a million dollars. Anyone interested in pitching in and owning your very own 14th century castle? Haha, actually it seems the cost to renovate and maintain the castle is the most expensive part of it all. We'll stick with our home for now.

Christophe really wanted to get a birds eye view of the chateaus from the hot air balloon but the flights doesn't start till the Spring. I guess we have to save that for another day.

Sakura's Highlights:
- The awesome kitchen at Chenoncea Chateau. Massive fire place!
- Leonardo Da Vinci's house and looking at his genius inventions
- Yummy lunch at L'Atelier Gourmand
- Learning more about French history...

Christophe's Highlights:
- Friendly owner at Hotel Foch (maybe a little too talkative)
- Lunch at L'Atelier Gourmand
- Castles, especially Chenonceau

Next stop San Sebestian Spain.
