Beginning the second Caribbean trip

We hit St Maarten, which became our base of operations again. It was during this time here i was fully introduced to the entire Ogier clan - Tahra, Paige, Guy, Greg & the Smiths: Sascha, Chris, Skyla, Rourke & Layla, of course, in their cruising cat... This wasn't some cult or secret society, but captain Craig's family. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, let me tell you it's quite an event having them all in close proximity, which often happened on our yacht around 7am on a Saturday morning (usually after having a few too many rum punches at the Lady C on Friday night). I enjoyed it a lot more this time in St Maarten with them all around. They're a very special bunch, & I hope they all know it...
As usual, we had to get down to the business of sailing, so we did another few loops around the leeward & windward islands of the Caribbean, but this time stopped at Nevis, Dominica & St Lucia. They are both of the relatively unspoilt Caribbean islands and we had island tours around them both. St Lucia has these two towering 'Pitons' that dominate the coast, so we had to go have a look (and imbibe on a few rum punches while we gazed at the view). It often seems that I've seen most of these Caribbean islands through a rum-filled haze, as that seems to be the drink of choice on any trip you join. Dominica seemed to be the most undeveloped island in the chain. There is very little in terms of shopping malls & cinemas, but the countryside has thick jungle and spectacular views.
We spent Xmas in Antigua and New Years in St Bart's (which is the very chic thing to do there) The amusing part was that St Bart's has a notorious swell coming into the commercial dock with all the yachts rocking around and straining on their mooring lines. Our owners decided this movement was a little too excessive for them to get off their boat, so they stayed behind and we all went ashore for New Years!
