I am back in Nadi with Claire, one of the barefooted trekkers, and we have spent a pleasant few days doing not much, though our plans were to do cultural stuff. We found, when we got up each mornig however, that we were lacking serious motivation, and we generally made it about as far as the pool each day. We also went shopping in Nadi, and I broke one of my cardinal rules for backpacking (okay, I did do it once before with dive gear, but that was workable at the time), I bought something that did not fit in my backpack, and now I am faced with the arduous task of carrying it all the way home. Load up the packhorse. In my defence it is a very beautiful vase, and it is not something that I have seen at home, but it is also fairly round. It is not actually heavy though, which is the main thing, and I will be leaving lots of bulky stuff in Honoluu while I travel around the islands, so it should be doable...
Still, it is a beautiful souveneir, so I won't complain too much. Claire leaves for Hawaii today and I am going to Robinson Crusoe Island for the next three days, as I could not face Nadi for any longer, and I want to see how a party island works. When I come back to Viti Levu, it will be for my groundhog day flight.
