Both Helen and me departed National Park yesterday.  She took the Tongariro shuttle to Taupo and I was headed back to Auckland.  I arrived without any trouble and went to Brian and Mel's to stay and to finally rid them of the box that they have kindly been holding for me for the last two months.  Posting that box home is one of a myriad number of jobs that I have to do before departing for Fiji.  Another is to buy a shirt to wear when I get to Fiji, as in the remote villages, I have just discovered, it is inappropriate to bear your shoulders and knees.  It is fine to wear what you like in resorts and tourist areas, but it is asked that you show respect in the rural regions, and that means covering up.

These jobs aside, I still want to go up to the Bay of Islands and I need to find the best way to do that.  I also promised a few people at the bar that I would drop in and say bye before I left NZ, so with seven days to go before I begin my trek back to the top of the world, it seems that I still have a lot to do, and once again I am looking forward to travelling on - not least for the sun that Fiji promises, I am also looking forward to home.
