Once again it is time to get moving independently. I did enjoy my time on the Stray bus, and I stand by my descision to use a tour comapany to fit the most into my time here in New Zealand in the travel time that was available to me, but I enjoy the anonymity of the public bus, as the companies begin to feel too tour-like after a while.
I went out for a greenstone hunt with Steven on the beach this morning, but once again came up only with Quartz. It was a shame, though it was pretty much what I had expected. At one o'clock I went to wait on the edge of the road for the bus to nelson. I do not mind saying that in some ways I felt like a real backpacker again, because I was travelling independently of a tour company once more. It was even quite fun to wait for the bus, which is really quite sad, but I smiled when I had to wave the bus down as it came rolling into town.
The resto f the day and the day after I spent in transit back to the North Island. I was quite disapointed to that I rushed through Nelson, but I want to have time to walk the Tongariro crossing, and that is running out, especially as I still may have to wait a few days for the weather, so it is onwards and upwards, back to the north, for my belated time in Welly and a delayed date with two volcanoes.
