I was fairly saddlesore today, which did not really surprise me, so I decided to have a relaxing day.  I did not even get out of bed until 11.30, which was lovely.  After a leisurely start to my day I decided to take the gondola ride up to the top of one of the hills overlooking the town and lake to see what the view was like.  It did not take long to get to the top in the gondola, but I must say that it is not my most favourite method of travel, and it felt a little precarious.  This is typical of me - no fear of jumping out of planes but a dizzying dislike of a perfectly safe cablecar.  It was worth it though, because the views from the upper slopes of the hill are quite spectacular on a clear day, and as there had been late snowfall this year there was a good colour variation on the hills surrounding the lake.

I spent about an hour on the slopes, just taking in the view and catching up with my journal, which was a good thing as I was rather behind with it.  I was a little disappointed that i had not done my reading before leaving for the top though as there was a walking track on the top of the hill that Iwould have liked to have done.  However, I learned the hard way about hiking in trainers when you should wear boots, and I did not fancy explaining to the insurance company that I had managed to lose two cameras while out walking, so I just decided to relax.

This was a good thing, because I was even less pleased with the Gondola ride on the way back down, especially when it went over the edge of the cliff at quite a speed and I was basically flung out onto the slope.  It all felt a little unstable for my liking, and all I could think of was how much weight was around me if something did go wrong and it fell and I went crashing with it all the way to the bottom.  I am not really sure how my mind works sometimes.  All I can say is that I was glad to get out at the bottom.

The rest of the day I simply spent wandering around the town, which did my aching muscles a lot of good.
