I went up the skytower before work today, just in time to catch the sunset, which was rather spectacular, and I had an enjoyable time at the top, wandering over the glass panels in the floor, which make you feel as though you are standing on air and taking in the views over the harbour and the city, which are supurb.  The Domain also looks impressive from the tower with the museum sitting on top of a hillock and in short, Auckland itself looks pretty impressive, especially as dusk falls and the lights start to come on all over town.  Then it was time for work and my last shift.

I was ecstatic to be finishing work today, as it means that it is almost time to go and get on with what this trip is actually about, which is of course, travelling and having fun.  Sean let me have some shots with some of the guys from the hostel, as they weren't staying and it was my last night, so as a one off, I was allowed.  Customers were feeling fairly generous tonight as well, so it was all going very well and overall I had a pleasant last shift.

There was only one thing that marred it slightly which was the band helping themselves to the doughnuts I had brought in for the staff as a surprise at the end of the night, and, when they were caught, Seamus getting all rock star and not bothering to apologise, and saying it was a stupid thing to have done anyway, as it was three am and who wants f***in doughnuts at three am.  Also, if I was that bothered he would give me $100 for two f***in doughnuts.  Which really rather missed the point.  Bloody musicians.

And there is of course, one question.  If it was the case that no one would want doughnuts at three am, why had they helped themselves to said undesireable doughnuts without even a word to the duty manager?

It is a stupid little thing, but I had gone out of my way to do something nice for the people at work just to have some thoughtless, arrogant prat ruin it and put his ego before manners.  It is one aspect of the bar that I will not miss.

Anyway, I calmed down after throwing a few tables around (not literally, that would have caused expensive damage that I cannot afford), probably more quickly due to the shocked look on the bouncers faces as I do not think that they expected me to be able to lift the tables, let alone hoist them over my head to bring them back into the bar.  It is a curious thing about big people, that they do not expect little people to be able to move large objects, yet to equate being slim with being weak is a dangerous assumption to make.

Everything was absolutely better when the (remaining) doughnuts came out and we got on with a few leaving drinks before heading to Fox's for Breakfast which was scrumptious.  I then crashed into bed at nine am on Sunday morning for a brief sleep before making my final few calls and packing for the start of my trip on Monday.
