Gav's new regime almost killed me on Monday, I couldn't even face my run and I was feeling ill on Tuesday, though I deduced that this is probably more to do with the fact that i haven't really been eating properly rather than being due to the workout and as such I have made a concerted effort to eat more healthily - but that is pretty boring. I have also had little success in fining out just how much it will cost to send my belongings home before I leave NZ, as the man in the post office was adame\ant that there was no such thing as sea mail from New Zealand. Being an island with large cargo freights delivered to Auckland daily by sea seemed to utterly escape him, so he was not very useful and despite pointing this fact out to him I was merely told, curtly, that sea freight simply did not exist. Therefore I am left trawling internet sites for any information on the elusive sea transportation companies. I'll let you know how I get on with this tiring and infuriating side effect of aquiring so many shoes whilst I am backpacking - and as a note to myself, they do not pack well. Nevermind.

Anyway, yet more good news awaited me when I got up on Wednesday morning, which was that my room was going to be deepcleaned on Friday. For those that don't know 'deepcleaning' in hostels is almost always synonymous with bedbugs. Fantastic. However, this transpired not to be the case, the hostel was in fact just deepcleaning in preparation for the summer rush - they do it bi-annually to keep any potential problems in check, they even showed me the schedule, but I still washed and tumbled dried everything.... Just in case.

On the bright side, there were $25 worth of tips at the end of big Wednesday, and that should remind us all that there is always a silver lining!
