Geordie Boy

I met another member of staff at the bar today, Ant. otherwise known as Geordie because he is from Newcastle (original nickname isn't it.) I was pleasantly surprised because although he is, technically, a member of management, he does not work you half to death for your twelve dollarsan hour. He also said that once I had done my jobs for the day I could, quite unhurriedly, just potter behind the bar doing cosmetic work to keep the bar looking tidy. It was good to know that I wasn't going to have to worry about looking for jobs to do!
I haven't met Ant before because he has been off work after having a part of his toe amputated due to a stone fish sting. Very nasty. He had however, just that morning, discovered that he still had part of his toenail left, so he was in quite high spirits because that means that once his toe has healed it will just look stunted rather than amputated. This thought makes him fairly happy.
I also discovered that to be a bona fide Geordie you must be born 'in view of the Tyne,' simply being from Newcastle is not enough. I have lived in the North East my whole life and I did not know this, though, considering the rest of the British population thinks that being from the North East makes you a Geordie (categorically untrue) to know that it is limited to the Newcastle region in general is reasonably satisfactory I think.
I didn't do much once I had finished work except sit around. All of my double shifts seem to have coaught up with me and it currently requires more energy than I can muster to be active in general. I am sure I will improve in the next few days though, I even get two whole days off together next week!! Exciting. I can also buy my bus ticket once I get paid this week, so there is always a bright side and progress toward playtime is definately being made!!!!
Seven weeks and counting...
