First things first. I have a regular. He remembered me from what will henceforth be known as my 'poorly' state on Monday but came back to speak to me today and it transpires that he may be able to get me a car transfer from Christchurch to Auckland when the time comes for me to be off on my travels. No less than a free Mercedes transfer, an SLK or something similar. Though he did say that it may not be a Merc. It might be a Chrysler. Oh well! All I would have to pay would be my ferry crossing, Mercedes/Chrysler would foot the fuel and the rest. Sounds good to me. I get the use of a new Merc (I would be the delivery miles) for a few days with no costs incurred. I will admit that it would be almost as good as having Monster back, and that is fast becoming one of the most memorable parts of my trip. I never think of my time with Monster and the Outback without smiling. I still recall the roar.

True, a sports car will not roar like Monster, it will purr, but it will also remind me of my old MG, whose final service to me (in a long list of admirablev services, which, generally involved me haring up and down the M1 for my MA) was to finance the bulk of this trip. I think that it would be quite fitting to bring a sports car into the trip, if only for that memory, and the wind in my hair of course. You must never forget the wind in your hair. It is recompense for the lack of roar and one of the most enduring memories of my time with my beautiful MG, on cold winter days with the hood down, suede gloves on, a huge scarf, the everpresent sunglasses (they are a must with a soft top, you don't want to cry with the cold) and a pleasantly burning cold rush of air against your cheeks as you accelerate on the motorway.

I really hope I can get that car........

The weekend, other than this little wonderful nugget, has been fairly laid back, though as we were quite quiet on Sunday we had to do a whole weeks worth of cleaning on the day. The jobs just didn't last long enough for us to do any less! We must be too efficient for our own good. Indeed, we were so efficent and it was so dead that I ended up going home early. Again. This, unfortunately, makes my travelling budget slightly tighter, or harder to meet, but, being a resourseful sort of person I am sure that I can make my ends meet, somehow. There will be weeks where I work longer hours than initially expected, and times when I can work more night shifts, so I will get more money in tips, which will all help me make extra money to meet any percieved shortfall in my projected earnings. All to the good. I am here, and nine weeks left before the recommencement of adventure, a possible free Merc, and definate fun.

Not that I am counting or anything...
