Before you start worrying that you will get an account of every shift I work, I will make a promise that it will not be the case.  I was in two minds about whether to include this entry or not, as it is yet another work entry and is not hugely exciting (I had my own bed tonight.)  I was looking at articles earlier however and one mentioned about the uses of journals or diaries and how they were, effectively, useless if they recorded only the positive of exciting moments of life, because that is not how life works.   For a diary to be reflective of life it must display the mundane as well as the fantastical.  I agreed with the article; my time in Auckland may not be the most exciting part of this trip, but it is a huge factor in it, especially as it will give me the financial freedom to do the aforementioned fantastical things to which you will be privy later (i.e. when I have done them.)

So, the late shift.

I spent the first few hours at work, after my last bad shift, expecting to screw up, so it was miraculous that I didn't turn fear into reality, other than one or two mispours, which were sold later anyway so it was not big deal.  Then, once I had relaxed, obviously, I managed to drop two glasses in the silent section between two songs playing, so the resulting crash caught the attention of the whole pub, as well as my boss.  So much for things going better!  I wasn't the only one though thankfully.  Sean dropped one later (in sympathy or not I do not know) which it made me feel better.  Still, I managed a decent job of clearing the bar so it wasn't a total disaster, and to be fair, my monday shift wsn't so bad, I am just not used to getting things wrong, so when I do, it really annoys me.

I also got another sixteen dollars in tips, so I must be doing something right and it can't be cleavage because I don't really have one, so I must have a winning smile, or just look really downcast - answers on a postcard please...

Still, when I got back to the hostel my bed was empty, no dramas, just a place to rest my litle tired head.

Maybe I'll have some drama for you next time...
