The only problem with touring Western Australia, is that once you get out of the cities, if you do not have a car you will find yourself held mercilessly in the grips of the infrequent bus service - which can lead to a lot of wasted time when you are travelling alone.  For instance, I woke at seven this morning to check out of the hostel and go for a morning ride, which would bring me back two hours before the bus departed and thereby allow me some opportunity to get over being saddlesore, which I would dearly need after being five years out of the saddle!  However, the curse of the solo traveller was in operation today, as I found that the ride wasn't running due to lack of numbers, basically, there had only been me who wanted to go out riding.  Which left me with something of a dilemma, what was I going to do now?  I was neurotic about missing the bus, as the shuttle only runs three times a week from Kalbarri to Binnu road station and my neatly planned morning activity, which is essential to alleviate boredom (those of you who know me well know how easily I get bored) had been scuppered because I couldn't split myself into three people, which, thinking about it, I really should learn how to do, but then I would have to learn to multiply my money as well, and beyond that the whole enterprise just gets really complex, so maybe I'd be better off just not worrying about it and learning to cope with boredom.............................

So, how do you think I can go about splitting myself and multiplying my money?

I couldn't figure it out either, so I decided to take a hint from Rome and did as the Aussies do.  I went to the beach.  Unfortunately, all my beach clothing was in my bag as I'd dressed for riding and was consequently more prepared for cold weather than the thirty degree heat that greeted me on the sands - it was just one of those days!  Once I found some shade I just lounged around writing up my journal.  Honestly, this travelling business is really hard work, I don't know how anyone can say that I am on holiday, as I sat happily in the shade watching the waves and writing about giant scorpions and running down cliffs and eating excellent donuts from the Kalbarri bakery...... Ok, maybe this is easy.  Apart from the lack of a car, but then I guess that that is also a part of the adventure.  I'm off to Monkey Mia and Shark Bay next, well, when the bus gets here anyway!
