I managed to get my extra bag into the airport and onto the plane, they were fairly accomodating, I think because it was only a small carrier (now containing new trainers - very comfy and cheaper than the UK) and then an overnighter to Perth.

I won't pretend that I'm sorry to leave Hong Kong, much as I loved the atmosphere and the skyline and the amazing lightshow (which I did see in clear skies, just before I left) , I was getting tired of being followed and of the constant pressure from vendors and hawkers - being blonde and pale really marks you out as a tourist here, be warned.  I have missed out my intended excursions to te New Territories because my inability to sit still means that my ankle is still fairly sore, however that just means that I have a cast iron excuse to come back, though I think I will stay in a hotel next time!

Hong Kong is a fairly rapid place, and a very enjoyable destination with lots to see and do, though it can be expensive, and in hindsight i would have liked to have been coming home so I didn't have to watch the money quite as closely.  It is possible to eat cheaply in Hong Kong but as there are very few hostels with kitchens the money does stack up quickly if you are not careful.  The mutlitude of pretty things and antiques and cultural tours and other opportunities also lead to expense, so conserving your money is something of a problem, better to be going home, where money isn't an issue because you have none or because you're heading home and can then get more fairly easily!

Final thoughts - Fascinating, Diverse, and Vibrant but very rarely quiet, Hong Kong is an unforgetable experience and an intriguing place.  I loved it, but I was also glad to be moving on - miles to go and all that.....

See you in Perth, and the Wilderness of Western Australia!!!
