Getting to the Tsing Ma bridge is more dificult than getting to the other attractions in Hong Kong, mainly because it is outof the way and the service to it are run at hourly intervals, so again I had to practice timekeeping (it did not go well, I had to wait forty minutes for the bus). However, it was worth the trip, because although he bridge has a relatively simple design, the enormity of the span is very apparent, and obviously very large!!!!  The viewpoint also contains a visitor's centre which brings home to the lay person just how massive an undertaking the construction of this bridge was.  (Yes I know you have told me about this Dad, but I didn't really realise - probably because I was only half listening, lots of echnical terms, but I did find what you said interesting - the visitors centre just said it more simplistically.)  The enormity of the bridge isnks in when you realise that you cannot fit the whole thing into one shot, there will always be an end missing - its just that long 01. On the way back I decided to head to the Ladies market, not intending to spend any money, just to look...........it lasted about 20 minutes, which is actually quite restrained for me.  I was lured however by the fabulous chopstick sets and the lovely pashminas, and once again went to exercise my poor bartering skills, though with some handy hints from my German dorm mates I fared slightly better - knocking 20 dollars off the price of the chops and 70 off the pashminas.  I may have still paid a little over the odds, but it was not really a rip off. I'm not goint to tell the prices as they are presents and I don't want people to think I'm being cheap, even if that is slightly the case.  (Hey I'm on a budget and people keep saying its the thought that counts anyway!)

After a fairly exhausting day - you cannot simply walk through the markets, you must be very aware and very firm with stall owners - I collapsed back in the dorm, glad that bartering is not a way of life at home, though perhaps that would make doing it here easier, and began packing my bag for the ensuing trip to Oz.

It didn't all fit......... oh dear, this is only my first stop......
