Todays game against Canada is not untill 5:30 west coast time, so the girls and families have most of the day to explore.  I have heard that some went to see the columbia river and enjoy what the mountains have to offer. Others have spent their time shopping and walking about the city of Portland.
Soon it will be time to put on their game faces and play some softball. going down to the field early to warm up, but also because they do a nice job of making the experience fun for everyone. We were lucky to have the first game yesterday, the first pitch was thrown out by a member of the USA Softball Team. Alyssa was given the call to catch the opening pitch that came in pretty high, she didn't dissapoint and made a jumping catch. The entire Latin America team came out to sing their national anthem, when they finished they came over to the stands and threw beach balls with the flag of Puerto Rico up into the crowd. Just walking around and listening to girls speaking other languages and sampling the great food that the food stand is dishing out makes for a good time. Everyone seems to be smiling and happy to be here, as they should. So far good sportsmanship has been shown by all. I am sure as the series keeps going and the pressure to play well is hanging over all of the teams, it will get harder to relax. But everyone has been so nice from the host families that we have met to all of the volunteers working at the field. Making our experience here alot of fun and very exciting. Still to come among other daily activities is a day trip to the Oregon coast and I hear that one or more of our host families are having a picinic for everyone here visiting from the East. It all sound good to me. But in the meantime it is time to take on Canada's Little League winner in tonights game, Good Luck Waterford South Girls !!

Nothing could stop me from hearing the game
Well, since we were still in RI and without internet I had Mr. Miller put the game on in Waterford and we heard the game over his cell phone. I had the loudspeaker on and my whole family listened to the game. Denise and Megan-Paul, Lisa, Josh, Kelsey, AJ, me and Erin were all sitting around a tiny little cell phone listening to the game. It was so exciting. I had to keep myself busy so I scored the game on a piece of paper. Then I would go upstairs to Lisa and the kids and give her the recap. Kelli-I am soooo proud of you. I knew you would hit one-it was just a matter of time. Even though I didn't get to see it I'm glad your mom did. Alyssa, you're next. Great job by all the girls. Christine-way to go!!! We miss you and wish you good luck. See you soon. Sage-you're the best-your pops too.

Mrs. M.
