Ayuthaya, a very ancient former capital of Thialand.  World heritage site. Utterly magical. The old city ruins are breathtaking.. We arrived at the city by a taxi from Bangkok, a trip of 75miles for 20. Everybody squashed into one taxi with luggage on the laps of people sat on laps. When we arrived at the hotel we were taken under the wing of a fantastic Tuk Tuk driver called Mr Bunchop (his first name. He looked after us the whole time, staying with us the whole day, dropping us off at temples and other religious sites all day. We also had the opportunity to ride elephants around the old city. The elephant I was riding on seemed to like Frances on her elephant and raised its trunk up and blew its nose all over her.
My over riding memory of this beautiful city is that all the religious sites have dragonflys everywhere. Some seem as large as birds. Skies filled with dragonflys.
