After such a great time in Crested Butte, we were sad to go. But after five hours of driving, we turned up in Taos at our guest house for the next two nights and found out that we're staying in quite possibly the nicest place on earth. Seriously. Our room (called the Leghorn Casita) is enormous, with a little kitchen, fireplace and a little back patio which looks out onto the owner's chickens. The whole place is done up in this beautiful New Mexico style, there was a little spread of tapas and a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived, and he has even given us eggs from his chickens for breakfast. I wish I liked scrambled eggs! I'm going to be jealous of Mike in the morning when he makes breakfast..
When he arrived, he came in to say hello and spent about 20 minutes with us, telling us all the places to visit around here, which restaurants to eat at, where we could put in the canoe for a trip on the river. He even told us we were free to use his garden if we're cooking (fresh chard, beets and carrots). Honestly, I can't imagine a nicer place. And it's only $115...you can bet this place is getting a 5 star rating on tripmonkey.org!
